AudioControl – Six Months as an AVPro Company

AudioControl – Six Months as an AVPro Company

, by Ashley Stuntebeck, 4 min reading time

The AudioControl home division has completed the first six months as a brand of AVPro; this is a quick review of what has transpired during this period and a look at where this staple of the custom AV world goes moving forward.

When the calendar page flips over at the end of this month in a rare leap year to reveal March 1st, for AudioControl, it will mark six months since the acquisition by AVPro. Six months may seem like a clock tick for a company that has operated for 47 years. However, they may represent the most significant period yet in the company’s continuing, storied history.

Unapparent to integrators who welcomed the news were the strategic moves made at the Mountlake Terrace, WA, headquarters of the home division of AudioControl. After the acquisition, mobile audio manufacturing lines were replaced and refocused exclusively on commercial and residential audio. These production and operational changes increased production to eliminate delays between order placement and fulfillment, something every AudioControl client is happy to see.

Long-term opportunities have already begun to flourish for AudioControl, which will receive a specific immediate focus from Juha Nurminen, the newly appointed head of engineering for AVPro Global brands. His extensive experience with HDMI connectivity solutions (read this as CEC, EDID, and HDCP issues), plus experience in video color science technologies that underlie digital light engine designs, not only bodes well for future conceived AudioControl products but with those from AVPro Edge, Bullet Train, Murideo, and ThenAudio as well.

AudioControl debuted Dante audio onboard multi-channel amplifiers at ISE in 2020, enabling sources to be shared by select network-based CM series models in separate locations. At the recently concluded ISE 2024, the Dante-enabled Director series M6800D was shown, with residential integrators joining those in the commercial space who have adopted Audinate’s clock-synchronized, delay-proof Dante method of audio signal distribution, eager to place the M6800D into the upcoming projects. In this new age of audio design, where some product prices resemble window stickers in a Mercedes showroom, AudioControl remains at the leading edge for affordable, full-featured immersive audio receivers and stand-alone processors, representing the bedrock for phenomenal home cinema systems. Designing to a price point and achieving results only fractionally removed from designing without budgetary restraint requires world-class engineering, judicious parts selection, and unmatched obsessive attention to detail. Every intended subtle nuance that Hollywood painstakingly crafts into content is visually and audibly delivered through AudioControl class-leading products.

8K/60 fps HDMI inputs and outputs on flagship models precisely traffic present

Dolby Vision, HDR10, and IMAX video codecs while providing ample bandwidth for compatibility with the next generation of these technologies.

Companion movie audio formats are decoded and played back with audiophile precision, identical to that required by music-only, high-bitrate codecs such as Roon and Dolby Atmos Music. Exciting and dramatic remastering of legendary albums such as Dark Side of the Moon and Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band has given new purpose to what was once movie-only dedicated home theaters.

To assist in making these listening environments sound their best, AudioControl utilizes Diracâ room correction software and its patented techniques that measure acoustic anomalies in the listening space, using corrective digital algorithms to effectively balance phase alignment, speaker driver alignment, room resonance reduction, and early reflection reduction,  holistically optimizing all speakers and AudioControl playback electronics.

Dirac Live Bass control has also been incorporated into AudioControl immersive products to provide lobe-free, equal bass performance in rooms of nearly any dimension, which is virtually impossible to accomplish manually and by ear.

AVPro is excited about the direction AudioControl is headed in and will continue to make available all resources and support necessary to ensure its products retain the performance-led, feature-rich value they are well known for while remaining innovative and responsive to the needs of today’s integrators.

The future’s so bright, we have to wear shades……
